Retrograde Mars In Leo Advice

With the Red Planet having just entered the sign of the Lion and staying there for the foreseeable future (early January 2025; when it backtracks into the Crab’s cosmic turf), have you ever heard of the expression “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes”?  Well this is what we’re NOT doing during Mars Retrograde 2024-2025!  To clarify, a so-called “stupid game” in this particular Mars Retrograde case equates to anything we might otherwise be inclined to do to stir up drama, ego-driven or entitlement-fueled actions, defending our pride as if life & limb depended upon it, and/or anything that might generally reek of some kind of  metaphorical big cat pissing contest.  No, no; we’re not doing any of this AT ALL – remember, you can’t “win” if you don’t play, and I assure you the prizes are not worth the headaches.

What are we doing instead?  We’re following urges to act in accordance with our noblest impulses.  We’re scratching that itch for entertainment and excitement through healthier – and far less messy – avenues such as creative pursuits & hobbies.  We’re wrangling our tempers so we are truly self-sovereign in this regard; never deigning to lower ourselves in anger at paltry things nor trifling peasants.  We are mustering the full presence of our Being to command – not demand – admiration via the strength of our character.  There is a reason why the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot depicts the Strength card as a nameless maiden of no particular renown gently closing the jaws of a lion.  They did not use, say, an illustration of Hercules – a name practically synonymous with physical strength – wrestling the Nemean Lion into submission; no.  They were smart enough to understand that true strength emanates from within at our core and does not depend on whether we were noble-born nor even if we were born with a pair of testicles.

In closing: This Mars in Leo season (and it is a long one due to the incoming Mars Retrograde!), fuck the pro-wrestling, steroid-induced machismo and see it for the weakness it is hiding. Right action cannot be achieved whenever the ego is enthroned where the heart should be, and the genuinely courageous among us will firmly but gently tame the beast within & without so not an ounce more of force is applied than is needed.  Do not waste a drop, for your energy and blood are too precious to squander foolishly. 11/05/2024

Vintage Mars In Leo Vibe

This one comes to us courtesy of the (Violent) Femmes:

“Day after day
I get angry
And I will say
That the day
Is in my sight
When I’ll take a bow
And say goodnight!”

LOL, I think it’s cute that he omits the part involving the spectacular fanfare which tends to accompany this “Exit, stage right!” – when Mars in Leo is angry, the one thing you can be sure of is there will be some kind of “scene” just before that bow.  😛

On a hunch, I felt compelled to run a chart for Violent Femmes lead singer/songwriter Gordon Gano. While he was born mere days after Mars exited Leo, he *does*, however, still have Mars located adjacent to über Leo star Regulus; flagship star of this constellation sometimes referred to as the Heart of the Lion whose literal astronomical designation *is* Alpha Leonis – I knew the lyric sounded familiar and had that Mars in Leo-like “ring” to it.

Lo-Fi Mars In Leo In Its Own Words

“And when you’re a star, they’ll let you do it. You can do anything.”

– Mars in Leo Rising Donald Trump, on how his celebrity status emboldened him to be physically aggressive with women.

The now-infamous quote above was uttered straight from the lips of a would-be president, if you can believe that – this doesn’t even take into account the *really* objectionable part (look it up for yourself – it’s been all over the news lately) that immediately followed.  I think the statement so perfectly encapsulates the essence of Lo-Fi Mars in Leo, though – the bratty sense of entitlement to do whatever the hell you want since you’re a special little snowflake who doesn’t have to behave like the rest of the world because, well, you’re NOT the rest of the world, now are you?  No, no, no – you’re far too extraordinary *coughNarcissisticcough* to act like everybody else does – that’s for the little people.

/sarcasm

I remember looking at Mr. Trump’s chart during the summer of 2015 and noting he was about to have a Mars Return that was marked by a prominent square to Saturn in Sagittarius, which did not seem like a particularly favorable energetic influence for his White House bid to my mind.  Mars is desire – in Leo, it always wants to be the star of the show. And what could possibly be a bigger stage than being the leader of the United States of America, I ask?

The Mars Return itself shows our drive and where we put our energies for the next two years. It is a cyclical event we all experience (albeit at different times) about every 22 months and looking at this chart can prove very useful for understanding what we want, what it is that’s motivating us, and how we go about about getting it, as well as whether or not we’re likely to emerge victorious in the pursuit of our conquest.  You can therefore see why I would think this an important thing to be looking at when this planet already features so prominently in this man’s chart to begin with; let alone the fact that it takes an enormous amount of energy and drive (Mars) to run for office.

As to where Saturn in Sagittarius comes in, it represents both his political ambitions as well as a large obstacle in the way of achieving that goal when it is found squaring his Mars. His testosterone (also Mars’ domain) is what’s getting in the way here – note that in his natal chart Donald has Mars located in his astrological 12th house; the part of the chart astrologers have long referred to as “the place of self-undoing”.  The 12th house and any planetary energies contained within it shows how we are apt to be the source of our own suffering and denotes where we are inclined to metaphorically shoot ourselves in the foot.  Trump’s desire to wear the crown of political achievement is being cock-blocked (and yes, the phallic pun is wholly warranted since we are talking about Mars and Saturn here) by his churlish machismo – it’s like tripping over your own dick; seriously.  Your fly’s down, Donald – put it back in your pants.
