…and don’t let the door hit ya on the way out! Jupiter is leaving Virgo (where it has spent the last year) for Libra on 9/9/2016 – look at the numerological significance of that date; the ninth day of the ninth month of a nine year…looks to me like the close of a cycle for sure! It’s not as if there haven’t been benefits – the last year has been a great opportunity to optimize health, for one. For two, it’s certainly been helpful for living a more organized, efficient, and cleanly lifestyle. But I’ve grown oh-so-tired of the preachy dietary and wellness evangelists who think their “way” is the only “right” way under the Jupiter in Virgo vibe. I’m weary of vacation feeling more like procrastination because there’s been so much work to do. I am grateful for the work and love what I do, but time off means the tasks just pile up – unfortunately there aren’t any helpful little birdies or mice doing chores for Cinderella while she’s away at the ball so she can enjoy a worry & guilt-free night off, LOL!
The good thing about being busy, though, is it forces you to be more efficient. You figure out how to make improvements to organization, scheduling, and your general routine. But I am ready for a better work/play balance, and perhaps even a fun little day trip or two – you? It’s coming, and perhaps the current Mercury retrograde in Virgo just as Jupiter is leaving this sign will help us to see what final little tweaks can benefit the situation & make this possible!
NB: The following is an updated repost intended to serve as a consciousness-raising reminder for June – it’s not what you look at that matters so much as what you SEE, so it’s time to get your metaphysical POV on!
There’s something in the air this month…or perhaps more precisely, the Earth. Earth Element, that is – Jupiter in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn form another trine in June, and some auspicious omens may appear to us during this time.
At first they may seem small…trivial, even. Small enough to miss if we were to take each one out of context and look at it on its own. But they will also be bountiful – we’re going to get so many of them that if we back up and take it all in, it will coalesce into something huge we can’t miss. Jupiter in Virgo is like pointillism – if we stand too close, we only see the tiny dots and so don’t think much of it. But if we get some distance (read:perspective), we can see how all the minor details actually come together to make this grand picture. So what is “insignificant” under this energy, really? Nothing, because when we put all the little pieces together and connect the dots, The Sign becomes concrete. It’s regarding a major renovation/upgrade somewhere in our life…perhaps something health/wealth/work-related since we do have the Earth signs involved. Especially if you have a planet or point in your chart situated between 14-18 degrees of Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn, do pay particular attention now. This aspect becomes exact on June 26th, when The Omens are apt to be strongest, but both these celestial bodies are within proximity to one another throughout June so definitely be on the lookout!
With Jupiter now direct and preparing to wrap up its tour of wellness-oriented Virgo while currently sitting opposite illusionary Neptune and squaring reality-check Saturn, I think it’s time to talk some health Truth and dispel a big myth about the concept of “healthy” as this pertains to diet & nutrition. Since we’re in the era of green and healthy living this is an issue that (although often well-intended) sometimes tends to get twisted, but with the astro we have in play it’s a good time to straighten this kind of thing out and correct any misperceptions.
This is the primary Truth as I see it: The term “healthy eating” is something entirely subjective – it relies heavily upon context and is completely dependent upon what the perception of “good” is. For example, are we striving for weight loss? Optimal nutrition? To feel better? To eat in a manner that we find ethical? Are we striving for an organic diet? To bring better balance to our lives through wellness philosophies like Ayurveda or Traditional Chinese Medicine? Trying to use diet to manage a specific physical challenge? You get the picture – what we consider “healthy” or “unhealthy” is entirely dependent upon which lens we’re viewing this issue from and there is no one “right” answer because it is all subject to interpretation.
Occasionally I see people trying to impose their health dogma upon others like some kind of dietetic evangelist as if it were a one-size-fits-all kind of deal, and I just have to shake my head because it absolutely is not. It’s a myth that there is only “one way” to eat healthy, and I’m not sure why people get so hung up on believing their “way” is *the only* way – what’s right and good for one may not necessarily be the same for another, because every body is different! There is no sense becoming self-righteous or holier-than-thou about our own dietary philosophy, because at the end of the day, who are we to judge? We’re not in their shoes and living in their skin, so can’t even possibly begin to determine the “right” nutritional needs for a physique that isn’t the one we currently inhabit. It really is no different than moralistically judging someone for their “lifestyle choices”, if you know what I mean. So rather than get preachy about the issue, remember the old “Judge not lest ye be judged” axiom, because it is so, SO applicable to health and diet matters while Jupiter is in Virgo! Let’s all strive to have a broader understanding of nutritional diversity and that it’s a GOOD thing – less dietary judgment and criticism; more tolerance!
A motto for May & June’s Mutable Madness.
We have some Mutable Madness on the way with another round of Jupiter in Virgo squaring Saturn in Sagittarius during late May and then version 2.0 of the Saturn/Neptune Square hitting in mid June. When considering the incoming astro, “Mobilis in mobili” popped into my mind – it’s a latin phrase that means “moving around within the moving thing” and I thought it absolutely perfect for describing the flavor of the approaching vibe! From this we can get the sense of movement; of things being in a state of flux, and can take away a sense that flexibility and being able to juggle multiple balls in the air at once is going to be a requirement for the task(s) at hand. People with placements between 11-15 degrees of any of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) should pay extra attention, as they are going to find themselves plugged into this energy quite directly.
The strength AND weakness of all this Mutable Madness lies in its adaptability – on one hand when we find ourselves dealing with delays/impediments/obstacles, it certainly behooves us to see if there is an “alternate route” available to us. On the other, though, we do have to be *very* careful not to diffuse our energies with too much vacillation under such a “scattered” vibe. Mutable energy always creates a tendency to bob and weave, however it’s entirely possible that in doing so we may find ourselves pulled in too many different directions at once and/or generally lacking in beneficial continuity. Know that diversification can be an asset or a liability depending on how we work it under this astrology – the key is awareness.
Although this energy peaks from late May through mid June, all the players involved are already within proximity so this influence officially builds from hereon out. We can prep for this period by minimizing any/all unnecessary distractions ahead of time and relieving ourselves of excessive/extraneous duties or burdens in order to maximize focus and productivity, because if it feels like something is too much work NOW, just wait until this Mutable Madness *really* gets into full swing…! If we’ve bitten off more than we can chew the approaching astro will definitely let us know it, so it is important to let go of what we can lest we find ourselves overwhelmed by inconsequentials and/or driven to distraction.
There’s something in the air during March & June…or perhaps more precisely, the Earth. Earth Element, that is – Jupiter in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn form a trine during these two months, and some auspicious omens may appear to us during these times.
At first they may seem small…trivial, even. Small enough to miss if we were to take each one out of context and look at it on its own. It’s regarding a major renovation/upgrade somewhere in our life…perhaps something health/wealth/work-related since we do have the Earth signs involved. If you have a planet or point in your chart situated between 14-20 degrees of Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn, do pay particular attention…
Regardless of what may have happened during our day, our month, or even our year, I invite everyone reading to join me in starting off 2016 right by collectively shaking off any skanky vibes that may have been absorbed during the course of everyday living. It doesn’t matter what happened last week, yesterday, or this morning…it’s all history, baby! What is important at this very moment is setting and aligning with your intention for the future. What do you want the New Year to be? It doesn’t have to be defined by any static or negativity you may have encountered in the past – you can make it what you want it to be based on the vibe you choose to bring to the table.
So let’s greet the New Year with joy and with optimism. Light a candle, make a wish. Meditate, say some prayers. Burn some incense…smudge yourself and/or your space. Do whatever you need to do at this moment – no matter how small or how great the symbolic gesture – to feel prepared greet 2016 with fresh energy. Let it all go. It’s currently a Virgo Moon over Jupiter and the North Node, so think about ritual ways you might scrub your auric field of any dingy residue to help usher in that better tomorrow. Even literally, perhaps – I myself scheduled a physical and meta-physical housecleaning today, baseboards to ceiling. Not only did I dust, vacuum, mop, organize, etc. but immediately afterward I busted out my cedar smudge stick, lit my jai shri Hanuman incense, and sealed the deal with an energetic cleansing as well. I even laundered my bed linens in lavender-infused water, fanned the thin smoky plume of an artemesia smudge stick over my pillows, and placed a dream pillow handmade by a Mohegan Medicine Man on top of my usual one for peaceful sleep and enhanced dreaming. Tonight before I go to sleep, I plan on anointing my 3rd eye with some Bear Medicine dream oil a shaman friend made for me – it’s going to be AWESOME! 🙂 You don’t have to go to these kinds of lengths, of course – a simple shift in mindset or attitude alone will do wonders. So please join me in shaking it all off and welcoming in the New Year – blessings of peace, prosperity, health, and happiness to you & yours in 2016!
Virgo – the sign of health and wellness – has been quite supercharged lately! Jupiter arrived in this sign for a year-long tour (see excerpt from my newsletter) back in August, but more recently the planet has also been joined by asteroid Hygiea, Mars, and even Venus! The long and short of it = our wellbeing is (and had been) a pretty big running theme as of late, and with Jupiter’s energy anchoring this whole collection of planets I think it important to take a macro, more holistic view of things rather than just focus on the typical Virgo nuts-and-bolts of diet, nutrition, and exercise alone. Things get a little more “woo-woo” anyway with these planets making oppositions to both Neptune and Chiron in Pisces, so our viewpoint on health matters benefits from looking at health in a more spiritual context as well. Pisces, as the polarity of Virgo, is a more restorative energy than its busy bee counterpart, and we bring our bodies into better balance by also incorporating complimentary practices for healing and wellness that are more reflective and still in nature. Solitude, meditation, yoga, cultivating a connection with The Divine, focusing on good quality sleep, and even reflexology (which deals with the feet; a Pisces keynote) are favored at this time.
On that note, I decided to make a reflexology appointment the other day. In conversing with my reflexologist, I found myself quite intrigued by how the feet serve as a map for the body’s various systems and internal organs, from the pituitary gland to the spine, liver, and even the lymphatic system. There are corresponding “points” in the feet for EVERYTHING, and her gentle touch served to both relax and to also stimulate all the internal mechanisms of my body that nutrition and exercise alone couldn’t reach.
The health of our feet can say so much – in Western society, we tend to get hung up on aesthetics rather than look at their appearance as possibly being a helpful diagnostic tool in assessing the potential for certain imbalances within the body. For example, if you have calluses, what points in the body do they correspond to on a reflexology chart? Your spine? Your parathyroid? Maybe it’s not just your shoes or your gait that are causing them…perhaps your body is trying to “protect” these areas with extra skin because the organs they correspond to in the body might be weak or injured for some reason? What about the dreaded cracked heels – do we possibly have some lower back issues and/or are we potentially deficient in Fatty Acids? If we REALLY want to get woo-woo with it, could those cracked heels actually be a sign of a Root Chakra issue? Perhaps some underlying security fears exist and may need to be addressed and there might be some asanas we could also do to help out on that front.
Now I’m obviously neither a doctor, nor a reflexologist, nor do I specialize in medical astrology. But I always find it interesting to examine the subject of health in a more holistic multi-dimensional sense, even if this includes using a more abstract point of view from time to time. So why not use the energy of this Virgo stellium to take a look at YOUR tootsies? Non-judgmentally reflect upon their condition and try to figure out if there’s something they might be trying to tell you about the state of your health?
LOL, the above was something I used to tell a Virgo stellium girlfriend of mine once upon a time – I almost got it printed on a workout T-shirt for her to wear to yoga or at the gym, but you know how…particular…Virgo can sometimes be and so I thought better of it in the end! It probably would’ve had to been made of unbleached organic cotton or some other very specific hypoallergenic all-natural fiber, or maybe the font wouldn’t have been quite right, or she might have preferred a v-neck to a crewneck…by now, you are probably getting the picture as to why I ultimately refrained. 😉
But with Jupiter about to enter Virgo for a year-long stay on August 11th, “Keep calm & Virgo on” could well become our new mantra for the next 365+ days! If you’re not subbed to my free monthly newsletter, now would be a good time to do so because the August edition (which will come out on or around the 1st) is featuring an editorial on the subject in question. In this issue I discuss some vital considerations and key themes for this placement, and although I will build on this via some supplemental blog posts on the topic, you are totally missing out if you’re not on the list. Not only is this where I share some of my more insightful musings, but subbing also gets you insider-only access to special promos. You can always unsubscribe at any time if you change your mind later, so what are you waiting for?
