Neptune’s Intuition

With Neptune powerful in its Pisces domicile for the foreseeable future, I thought I would take this opportunity to discuss this planet’s considerable intuitive gifts and how to recognize them. Intuition is something that happens completely outside of the conscious rational mind – it is a non-tangible, non-logical sense of receiving information that we have no other reasonable explanation for. For some this expresses as “hearing” a voice that is often initially mistaken for their internal thoughts. For others, they may “see” things in their mind’s eye and blow it off as “just their imagination”. Others feel things on a visceral level in the form of physical sensations in the body that are “weird” or transiently mimic illness. There are many varietals – perhaps yours comes instead through dreams. Or maybe it’s heard through music, whether it’s the perfect timing of a song on the radio or the lyrics stuck in your head on repeat for no good reason.

Neptunian intuition is frequently quite hard to pin down; it is something prone to shapeshifting and behaves differently for each individual. Some are more connected to it than others, and it all depends upon how good we are at listening to it rather than judging it. Those who consciously seek a spiritual connection to Divinity and who have personal beliefs that hold space for the impossible and miraculous seem to have an easier time tapping into it, as there is less resistance to the flow and the ability to suspend judgement and disbelief is crucial in lubricating Neptune’s energy so it can stream *through* us. We’re just Receivers for the signal, that’s all – it doesn’t originate *from* us but is instead a god-given factory setting that allows us to tune in to the Source of all that is, was, and will ever be. The precise frequency that each one of us uses to tune into that information from Source varies, but the key is to put ourselves in settings that allow us to tune out more of the white noise of mundane life so we can pick up instead on the more subtle dimensions that might otherwise be ignored.

That last bit is crucial; the more distractions we have jamming up the input lines, the harder it is to decipher what’s what – that’s why solitude can be invaluable. Carving out time to rest, meditate, pray, sprawl out in shavasana, be still, or just get good sleep are all ways of making ourselves clearer conduits for intuitive messages to come through us. And perhaps the most important thing to understand about Neptunian intuition is how it often goes unrecognized by the Self because this planet’s energy is highly ego-effacing by nature. “Oh, that wasn’t anything; it couldn’t possibly be – I don’t have any ‘psychic’ abilities. I’m no Edgar Cayce,” is often what we tell ourselves, downplaying the significance of those nebulous impressions we shouldn’t be ignoring. The Neptunian vibe seeks no glory or recognition, being inherently self-effacing. Therefore it can easily remain a blind spot obscured from our view so that we don’t recognize it for what it truly is; a different means of understanding that comes not from the mind but from Spirit.

Jupiter In Scorpio Trine Neptune In Pisces Vibe

There’s an ongoing super Watery alignment happening between Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces during 2018. We took our first dip into this aquatic energy back in early December 2017, but it will return to make a big splash twice more this year. The GIF above (courtesy of The Life of Pi) is a pretty accurate visual metaphor for how this energy *feels*; enormous, unfathomable, and at times even overwhelming.  Massive Truth Waves come bobbing up from the depths of our psyche and wash over us like some kind of giant leviathan breaching the surface.  Because Jupiter is tenanting Scorpio, some of these Truths will be ugly.  But they need to be allowed to rise up to the top; particularly if and when we’ve suffered in silence – how else can we release and transcend? By dealing with them honestly we can start to replace resentment with forgiveness, dissolve bitterness with (self?)compassion.  This isn’t a get-out-of-jail free “love all, forgive all” pass necessarily, but it does favor taking a spiritual view of the fucked up things that happen to us all in order to reach a place of serenity and acceptance of the Truths we cannot change so we’re empowered by – rather than hiding from – them.

The trine between Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces perfects again on May 25 & August 19 of 2018, but for all intents and purposes we should expect to feel the effects of this vibe bubbling up for weeks on either side of these dates. For those who missed the in-depth newsletter article I wrote about this trine in my December 2017 issue, you can contact me to request a copy if you would like more info on this cosmic configuration.  There’s plenty of good stuff this alignment has to offer us; moreso the deeper we dive into it, so don’t be put off by what you see topside.

Pisces Full Moon, Conjunct Neptune

I tried to outrun the gathering storm – it worked…for a while. But the minuscule drips soon turned to cascading droplets and there was no escaping it; I was out in the weather. The pouring heavens cried – I felt their tears wick through my soft cotton tank and into my sports bra as I ran through the deluge. I tried in vain to dry the sky’s eyes but the thin streams trickling down the side of the road soon eddied and gushed into small rivers, soaking hair, skin, feet. I surrendered completely to the rain, allowing it to wash over me as I received its absolution; blessed holy water from above cleansing mankind of its transgressions. Sometimes we all need a good cry – Mother Earth is no exception. I made my peace with the downpour as I pressed on, knowing sanctuary awaited if I just kept moving forward.

Jupiter In Libra Inconjunct Neptune in Pisces

What is “marital bliss”, anyway?  As the inconjunct (or quincunx, if you prefer) between Jupiter in Libra and Neptune in Pisces perfects on May 17 2017, it is important to note this is truly a subjective ideal!  Many of us think about this in broad terms and haven’t bothered to clarify with ourselves/Divinity/The Universe what exactly that vision looks like to us – it’s nobody’s fault, really, likely the result of being indoctrinated since childhood with fairy tales that vaguely trailed off in this manner. “And they lived happily ever after….” May have been the last words we heard before drifting off to dreamland as youngsters; a nebulous but reassuring omnipresent narrative that helped put us to bed at night.

But what if we are Awake, and wondering?

The paradigm that such a thing happens as if by magic is so deeply embedded in the Collective Unconscious that many of us have been sleepwalking in a sense.  It probably hadn’t even occurred to us to separate personal philosophies about love, togetherness, and relationship from the ones that have been instilled from media, our moral and/or spiritual background, our faith, and/or culture. But with Jupiter in Libra awkwardly backing into contact with Neptune in Pisces, meditating upon this topic is essential – there are a lot of things that have been passed off as Universal Truths about relationships that, well, aren’t.  Think about all the myths and stories we may have absorbed via osmosis that could have distorted our own personal Truth about what a happy union is AND regarding what it is that specifically makes *us* happy within the context of partnership.  The inconvenient Truth is we’ve been lied to – there is an “Eat, Pray, Love” quality to this energy and from a relationship perspective if we don’t ever take the opportunity to reflect on this and separate the signal from the noise it can be a setup for major disappointment and/or disillusionment.  An adjustment is needed – lucky for us, the current inconjunct between Jupiter in Libra and Neptune in Pisces provides just such an occasion.

A Jupiter In Libra Truth

The above philosophy regarding elevating our partner has huge resonance during Jupiter in Libra; particularly while it makes repeated squares to Pluto in Capricorn (i.e. in the weeks surrounding Nov 24th 2016, Mar 30th 2017, & Aug 4th 2017).  To reiterate a key point about this energy, Jupiter in Libra is a time for (mutual) growth and happiness in a union, but ever since Jupiter turned retrograde back in early February 2017, it’s entirely possible that we’ve taken for granted this will happen automatically; with no effort on our part. That’s what can make Jupiter transits a letdown – we puff ourselves up with these overinflated hopes expecting that he will just drop a cosmic goodie bag in our laps.  Then when we perceive him as not delivering the goods, we become disappointed when really what we should have been doing all along was seeking opportunities from within to create the growth and happiness we hope for.

At the moment Jupiter in Libra is also sitting in a prolonged and uncomfortable inconjunct with illusory Neptune until late July (note this leads right up to the time frame of the final Aug 4th square between Jupiter & Pluto), and many may be attempting to tune out inconvenient Truths about their partner, the general state of their relationship, and regarding their own role pertaining to any disillusionment with either. There is an element of Divine Discontent conveyed by this awkward pairing that can make it difficult to put a finger on why we’re not exactly happy in a partnership.  It’s not abuse – that would be far too obvious. Neglect, however, is far more insidious, eroding away happiness until partners drift away from one another.  It seems innocuous at first so that we tolerate it; appearing “benign” enough that we don’t see the Truth of it in its entirety.  But even small leaks can turn into a cascading waterfall.  Perhaps we’ve forgotten to give our spouse a kiss before leaving for work – if it happens once, we might not think it a big deal. But sometimes this snowballs until all the love and affection has seeped out and we’re left sleeping in separate beds.

On occasion, we also might not realize that we don’t seem to have as much in common with one another as we did “once upon a time” – political and social views may have blurred our understanding of one another where we no longer see eye-to-eye and isolation trickles into the open space where there was once unity.  There is also the angle that couples don’t always grow together in a spiritual sense; an uncomfortable schism can indeed infiltrate a relationship, creating a wide gulf between orthodox “faith” and the more free-flowing “spirituality”.  Or maybe we simply can’t recall the last time a significant other paid us an honest compliment – whatever the case, these many different kinds of “trickles” can all have the potential to dissolve even a good union if there are enough of them.

If we value the relationship, however, we cannot continue to ignore such issues. Neptune’s current influence upon Jupiter in Libra can be one of estrangement, so unions become more vulnerable to this pervasive-yet-vague sense of general dissatisfaction that cannot quite be named.  If we’ve ever been “together” with someone and yet felt so alone, the current inconjunct between Jupiter in Libra and Neptune in Pisces can carry this same rippling sheen of sadness. Meditate on all of this now, and imagine what might happen if our Significant Other were to stumble upon a Price(ess) Charming who elevates them where we have neglected them.

Repost: Life Under The Saturn/Neptune Square…

The Saturn/Neptune Square is tightening once again, becoming exact for a second time on June 17, 2016 @ 12 degrees of Sagittarius & Pisces.  The following is actually a repost  (which serves as a totally appropriate “time warp” influence of its own) with a few minor updates/edits.  What you find described below will more or less be a prevailing feeling from now through October.

Speaking of “temporal vortex”

Life is starting to look an awful lot like this lately again, is it not? I think we can pretty accurately sum up the square between Saturn in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces as being one big surreal “Chrono Trigger” moment, complete with alternate timelines and weird portals being stumbled upon in unlikely places.  Time is anything but linear under this astrological influence; it loops, bends, and distorts.  At any point, we – somewhat like Ebenezer Scrooge – may be visited by Ghosts of Times Past, Present, and/or Future…and not necessarily in that order.

The first hit of this Square was in late November 2015, but this blast(?)-from-the-past(future?) influence hits for a third time in September as well.  Think back to November to recall if any recurrent themes seem to be (re)surfacing in your life lately from that time.

Mutable Madness: “Mobilis In Mobili”

Mutable Madness: A motto for the incoming astrology of May & June.
A motto for May & June’s Mutable Madness.

We have some Mutable Madness on the way with another round of Jupiter in Virgo squaring Saturn in Sagittarius during late May and then version 2.0 of the Saturn/Neptune Square hitting in mid June.  When considering the incoming astro, “Mobilis in mobili” popped into my mind – it’s a latin phrase that means “moving around within the moving thing” and I thought it absolutely perfect for describing the flavor of the approaching vibe!  From this we can get the sense of movement; of things being in a state of flux, and can take away a sense that flexibility and being able to juggle multiple balls in the air at once is going to be a requirement for the task(s) at hand.  People with placements between 11-15 degrees of any of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) should pay extra attention, as they are going to find themselves plugged into this energy quite directly.

The strength AND weakness of all this Mutable Madness lies in its adaptability – on one hand when we find ourselves dealing with delays/impediments/obstacles, it certainly behooves us to see if there is an “alternate route” available to us. On the other, though, we do have to be *very* careful not to diffuse our energies with too much vacillation under such a “scattered” vibe.  Mutable energy always creates a tendency to bob and weave, however it’s entirely possible that in doing so we may find ourselves pulled in too many different directions at once and/or generally lacking in beneficial continuity.  Know that diversification can be an asset or a liability depending on how we work it under this astrology – the key is awareness.

Although this energy peaks from late May through mid June, all the players involved are already within proximity so this influence officially builds from hereon out. We can prep for this period by minimizing any/all unnecessary distractions ahead of time and relieving ourselves of excessive/extraneous duties or burdens in order to maximize focus and productivity, because if it feels like something is too much work NOW, just wait until this Mutable Madness *really* gets into full swing…!  If we’ve bitten off more than we can chew the approaching astro will definitely let us know it, so it is important to let go of what we can lest we find ourselves overwhelmed by inconsequentials  and/or driven to distraction.

The Saturn/Neptune Square, Musically

How many Saturn/Neptune correlations can YOU find in the following lyrics? The first song that seems to embody facets of this square from a lyrical standpoint comes to us from Coldplay’s “Clocks”, while the second is from R.E.M.’s “Leave”. Hint: Clocks are a Saturn thing – bonus points awarded if you can find the lines in both songs that specifically bring in the Sagittarius component of Saturn!

“Lights go out and I can’t be saved
Tides that I tried to swim against
Have put me down upon my knees
Oh I beg, I beg and plead, singing
Come out of things unsaid
Shoot an apple off my head and a
Trouble that can’t be named
The tiger’s waiting to be tamed, singing

You are…
You are…

Confusion never stops
Closing walls and ticking clocks
Gonna come back and take you home
I could not stop that you now know, singing
Come out upon my seas
Curse missed opportunities
Am I a part of the cure?
Or am I part of the disease? Singing

You are…
You are…”

SONG #2

https://youtu.be/k2sAdewL-Hg?t=1m01s

“Nothing could be bring me closer.
Nothing could be bring me near.
Where is the road I follow
To leave, leave?

It’s under, under, under my feet.
The sea spread out there before me.
Where do I go when the land touches sea?
There is my trust in what I believe.

Chorus:
That’s what keeps me,
That’s what keeps me,
That’s what keeps me down,
To leave, believe it,
Leave it all behind.

Shifting the dream
Nothing could bring me further from my old friend time.
Shifting the dream
It’s charging the scene
I know where I marked the signs.

I suffer the dreams of a world gone mad
I like it like that and I know it
I know it well, ugly and sweet,
I temper madness with an even extreme.

That’s what keeps me
That’s what keeps me
That’s what keeps me down
I say that I’m a lightweight
I say that I’m a phantom airplane
That never left the ground.

(Chorus)

Lift me, lift me,
I attain my dream.
I lost myself, I lost the
Heartache calling me.
I lost myself in sorrow
I lost myself in pain.
I lost myself in gravity,
Memory, leave, leave, leave.

(Chorus x2)

Lift my hands, my eyes are still,
I’ll walk into the sea
Shoot myself in a different place
And leave it

I’ve longed for this to take me,
I’ve longed for my release
I’ve waited for the callin’
To leave, leave.

Leave, leave
Leavin’, leavin’…”

Saturn In Sagittarius: Built On Faith

Something that strikes me regarding Saturn’s transit through Sagittarius is the concept of being built on faith – especially when we take into account this planet’s series of squares to a highly-spiritualized Neptune in Pisces. There is something tangible and yet intangible about this energetic pairing that does give the ability to manifest via belief…provided of course we apply the appropriate amounts of planning and elbow grease required to make it so. It can be tricky, though – Neptune’s involvement suggests there is also the possibility of doubt, confusion or a lack of clarity/focus, or even unrealistic visions that may cloud this process.

7 of Cups (upright and inverted) as depicted in the Robin Wood Tarot. This is the traditional "castles in the air" card (note the head in the clouds), with its inverted form being more akin to "wake up & smell the coffee".

Could it be that we are hoping to build upon something nebulous and ephemeral; a proverbial “castle in the air”? Or might we instead be “Ye of little faith”, discouraged and discounting possibilities because we’ve hit an obstacle somewhere? Back in my December 2014 newsletter, I mentioned one thing Saturn in Sagittarius was sure to do was bring tests of faith one way or the other for the sake of strengthening us. Fortify or weaken, it is our choice…it is time to look at what beliefs we are building on and how they are/aren’t they serving us.

The key under this energy is to set positive but realistic goals – unrealistic, misapplied LOA-type dogma that encourages fantasizing about having that dream job/pile of cash/whathaveyou without actually doing any of the real-world legwork required to procure such lofty ambitions is not the way to go, because a dream without a plan is just a wish. Or, if you prefer: God helps those who help themselves. I feel this theme has particular resonance over the next year with Saturn running over The Great Attractor several times during the next two hits of the Saturn/Neptune square. So let’s not misapply/distort the LOA to mean that we shouldn’t be doing any work to make those dreams a reality, aye?

On the subject of Saturn’s laws and the misapplication of The Law Of Attraction, I should also mention that any ideological framework can be misapplied in a harmful manner even if it *seems* positive – especially while Saturn in Sagittarius & Neptune in Pisces square one another.  I have seen this in action firsthand and know all too well  exactly what can happen when one reads a few too many self-help books and loses proper context. For example, when we are faced with significant stressors somewhere in our lives, I don’t believe we should just try to wish them away or pretend they don’t exist.  My concern with the LOA is that I’ve seen a (rigid) belief in its teachings do serious psychological harm when one bottles up feelings and thoughts they perceive to be “negative” out of concern that “like attracts like” and that talking about their fears, concerns, etc. will somehow only invite more negativity into their life.

When we stuff our very real, very natural feelings down inside like this, judge them as “bad”, and attach a degree of shame or stigma about expressing them, it is totally possible to wind up in a “when the levee breaks” scenario.  The result I saw involved someone being hospitalized for what ultimately turned out to be a panic attack, though at the time the party it was happening to didn’t register it as such.  The tightness in the chest and difficulty breathing seemed like a legit physical medical emergency given the lack of prior history regarding anxiety attacks, and it was initially suspected these symptoms might have been markers of a heart attack.  Thankfully this wasn’t the case, but unfortunately this event did indeed present residual psychological challenges for the person involved, as they were subsequently unable to drive for a number of years afterward.  Now tell me that’s healthy…! With Saturn in Sagittarius presently disposed of by Jupiter in Virgo, we do well to apply scrutiny to our belief systems to check to see if there might possibly be anything unhealthy going on. Yes, especially if the LOA is involved since Saturn is hovering around The Great Attractor.

We’ve just gotten our first taste of this square, but have about a year more of it to go…short term, this energy begins to ebb soon yet it will become continually pervasive once again from May through October 2016.
