The Mars/Uranus Mutual Reception

changeandnewTalk about your Rude (Mars) Awakenings (Uranus)…! A mutual reception kicked in between Mars & Uranus beginning at 12:51am EST on November 9th when Mars busted into radical Aquarius like a lunatic making a jailbreak from the asylum. This date should ring a bell for American readers – it was the wee hours of the morning immediately after Election Day, and many might have felt like they were literally awakened by a sucker punch as they turned on their televisions to view the results of the presidential race. Results of this aside (because we certainly can’t control those), I want to re-orient focus to talk about what we *can* do with the energy of this mutual reception!

The very first thing we must consider about Uranus and Mars working in concert with one another is that it unequivocally is some high-test rocket fuel. Like nitroglycerine, it may not be the most stable of compounds, but if you use it consciously it can certainly be one hell of a propellant. Mars is a hot-blooded, passionate, even angry kind of planet you see, and we sometimes forget what a vastly effective motivational tool this kind of fire can be when we want to make a change of some kind – think à la “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore!“; a rebel yell that urges us to action. Social activism is indeed a huge theme of a Mars/Uranus mutual reception, so if you’re angry and appalled about what you see going down, the first thing to do is get connected. Begin seeking like-minded people and band together, for there is strength in the collective now. There may be factions out there whose ideals conflict with your own, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start your own group and fight back; particularly against anything that flies in the face of the egalitarian energies symbolized by Uranus.

Please do not be fooled by the misguided notion that anger is not a “constructive” emotion – all feelings have their place and it’s what we choose *do* with them that ultimately determines whether they are positive or negative in expression. It is one thing to allow them to control us; another to acknowledge their presence and harness them in a way that truly serves us. If we become aware of our anger and opt to honor it, we can make conscious choices as to where and how we might turn this into fuel for actions that actually liberate us. The trick, though, is to be able to detach from it to a certain degree; to depersonalize our ire to an extent where it cools *just enough* for us to handle so we don’t burn ourselves or others. We must look at this almost clinically, in a somewhat scientific and observational manner, otherwise we’ll just wind up ranting and raving like a mad(wo)man or acting like a nutcase. But if we can observe the feeling and disassociate from it enough to where we’re “once removed”, we can see there may in fact be a Higher Order at work behind it. In this way, we can use it to prompt much-needed change without being part of the chaos – cooler heads must prevail in any “fight”. This is cerebral warfare we’re dealing with – you don’t fight fire with fire; you fight it with ice in your blood like some kind of Top Gun pilot. In this war for the future, it is absolutely critical that we maintain Air superiority by soaring above any belligerent bullshit to be the change we want to see.

This mutual reception will remain in play until December 19th, and a vibe of general social unrest will remain high at least until then. But this is not itself a bad thing, because things may change if we can band together and push for reform. In the meantime, make it a point to disconnect from social irritants, avoid fighting with “friends” (online or IRL) when you would be better off just detaching, and maybe even get some NEW friends. And be active in your community, because none of us battle alone under this vibe – we are all in this together! ❤

Catching An Astrological “Buzz”!

December’s Mars-Uranus mutual reception: Mars is in Aquarius, Uranus in Aries.

Woooohooo – did ya feel that?! Mars just made the transition into Aquarius & the astrology is poppin’, as this creates a mutual reception between Mars and Uranus that will last until January 12, 2015! Mars is an invigorating influence; Uranus represents that which is unexpected, wacky, and electrifying. Put the two together, and it’s a bit like sticking your finger into an electrical socket, LOL! Be advised the power of this pairing – though in effect now – will peak between December 15th-25th.

As I stated in an earlier newsletter, this vibe is metaphorically akin to nitro-glycerin – not exactly the most stable of energetic compounds, but if used correctly it can be one hell of a propellant! There are lots of ways these two energies will be mixing and mingling during the next 5 1/2 weeks, so I’ve made a cheat-sheet below of some themes likely to be encountered while this Mars-Uranus mutual reception remains in effect – keep in mind we each get to choose which end of this vibrational spectrum we want to resonate with, so for best results strive to do the Hi-Fi side of this astro. Pick any number of expressions from the list below that suit your purposes & will help you to kick ass, and strive to find ways to rock and embody them. For example, using the list below, maybe there’s a change we’ve wanted to make but haven’t made the leap just yet for any number of reasons – let this Mars-Uranus mojo be our cue to finally get off our keister and make it happen! Let’s make like a Nike commercial and “just do it”! Or maybe the inclination of this energy to be unapologetically different gives us courage to nut up and proclaim “I yam what I yam” if we are gay.

We can also use this same premise for avoiding Lo-Fi expressions of this vibe….for instance, if we know this mutual reception can increase the likelihood of unstable tempers, perhaps we make an extra attempt to detach from our own anger if we find ourselves irrational, on “TILT”, and in need of a cooldown; or actively disengaging from hostile situations when we see others getting hot under the collar. It’s important to realize that grey area exists as well – to give you an idea of what I mean, anger isn’t always a bad thing when being ticked off prompts us to take control of a situation that needs to be changed, like, pronto. If we’re normally unsure of ourselves and not apt to be assertive enough when we need to be, getting fired up may be *exactly* the change that’s being called for. It is possible for anger to be the kick in the pants we need to buck convention when the status quo is broken, so please don’t think this emotion – in itself – is inherently “a bad thing”! Now that you have the idea, let’s explore some of this mutual reception’s themes:

Self-initiated, proactive change; an unstable temper; detaching from irritants; taking action that’s unexpected or in some way different from the norm; an unconventional or experimental sex drive; being the change we wish to see; astonishing conflicts from out of nowhere; a surprise hero or champion coming from left field; self-assertiveness that shocks/amazes; independent action; original moves; unexpected passion; clashes w/ friends; online conflicts; an active social network; new friends; doing things with groups of people; social activism; being (unapologetically) different; “I am gay”; neuroinflammation; muscle weirdness/spasms; being weird just for the sake of pissing people off or driving them crazy; contrarian; social agitator; defiant; confronting a tech challenge; the “alpha dog” of a social clique; acting crazy; novel/fresh/innovative/radical actions; getting your “freak” on; sports fraternities; an unpredictable sex drive (that abruptly switches on OR off); and last but not least, my personal favorite – kicking ass with astrology! 😉

See anything you like on the list above? I hope so, because I sure do! To soak up whatever vibe(s) we want from this list, all we have to do is align our intentions accordingly in mindset, word, and deed – carpe diem, bay-bee!

Astro-News Bulletin: December Is Mutual Reception City!

We have a WHOLE LOT of mutual reception activity in December!  Check it out:

December's Mutual Receptions.
December’s Mutual Receptions.

1) The Sun in Sagittarius + Jupiter in Leo

2) Mars in Aquarius + Uranus in Aries

3) Saturn in Scorpio + Pluto in Capricorn.  Yes, still.  Until December 23rd, anyway!

That’s right, we’re going to have 3 of them in play at the same time – not to mention the penultimate Pluto/Uranus square – so we do seem poised for a very astrologically active close to the calendar year!  We know from an earlier post that mutual receptions show an exchange of energy between two planets.  Much like a pair of exchange students, each visits the other’s astrological “home” and what this does is create a strong resonant interplay between the two planets in question because this shared experience metaphorically causes them to start vibrating at the same frequency.  And as this vibration increases (see the peak times listed below), it’s as if their voices join together to create one singular sound.  Now this “sound” can manifest as harmonious OR dissonant depending upon a number of factors, but suffice to say that paying attention to the potential energetic effects of each mutual reception is important.  If we know the pitfalls as well as the pluses, it makes it pretty easy to make conscious choices that work to our best advantage.  For instance: If you’ve been thinking about making some changes in your life, stop thinking and start DOING once the Mars/Uranus mutual reception kicks off, as this is a pairing that favors self-initiated change.  We can use the window of time this mutual reception is in effect as our energetic “thumbs-up” to “do something different” in our lives while averting the more volatile side of this vibe by detaching from confrontations w/ angry people or from our own anger if this is causing us to become unstable.  Remember, every astrological force has both Hi-Fi and Lo-Fi expressions – the key is to understand what energies are in play so we’re empowered to make decisions that serve our Highest Good.  So let’s move on to the particulars:

• The Sun/Jupiter mutual reception runs from Nov 22nd – Dec 21st, peaking between December 10th-18th.

• The Mars/Uranus mutual reception runs from Dec 4th – Jan 12th, 2015 and is at its strongest from December 15th-25th.

• The Saturn/Pluto mutual reception already reached its height during 2012 & 2013, but this is such a long-running & pervasive energetic undercurrent it is absolutely still worth paying attention to.

Now if you’ve been following the blog for some time, you’ll recall that I offered up an interesting geo-political take on the Saturn/Pluto mutual reception here.  And if you’re a subscriber to my newsletter, you may remember that I’ve featured past articles discussing some of the effects of numbers 2 & 3 above.  But for those who haven’t read them or who need a refresher, I will re-post excerpts from the newsletter w/ the relevant info here & here, respectively, so you can get up to speed.

With the Mars/Uranus mutual reception, instead of starting the New Year off with a “bang”, we are ending the year with one – this is some rocket fuel energy for sure!  And with the Saturn/Pluto mutual reception, hopefully you’ve had enough time to realize when it’s time to hold vs. when to fold, because during the last 2 years many of us have found it more important than ever to consolidate our energy and stop any so-called “energy sinks” in our lives – this is especially so now because Saturn is in the last leg of its journey through Scorpio!  Think of it as “cumulative review” time – what have we learned during this period?

But what about the Sun/Jupiter mutual reception?  Definitely get subbed to the newsletter if you want to know more, because I plan on exploring this topic in an upcoming edition!  I try to avoid boring readers to death by having the same info listed in two different places, so you’re unlikely to see an article appear here on the blog covering this topic – if I do (and no promises there!), it will examine the Sun/Jupiter mutual reception from a different angle and serve as more of a supplement to the information contained in the newsletter.

You can sign up to receive it by scrolling down and clicking the red button over on the right sidebar over there —————————————————>
It will arrive in your inbox usually on or around the 1st of each month and also has a nifty Q&A column where you can write in with your astro-questions and have them answered in an upcoming edition!  But the best part?  You’ll also have access to special insider-only deals and giveaways via the monthly promo column, so it definitely pays to be “on the list”!  😉
